Last weekend we welcomed a new 4 legged friend to our family! WELCOME HOME BRISTOL!
3 weeks ago was Clear the Shelter Day in New Hampshire and I posted on Facebook that maybe we should get a new friend for Diesel...mostly since it was Clear the Shelter Day and I was seeing dogs on Facebook all day!
The next day Mike sent me links to two dogs on Petfinder. I didn't look too seriously at them, but that afternoon when he said he wanted to email the rescue, I said go for it.
Fast forward three weeks and here she is! All the way from Georgia!
Bristol is originally from Puerto Rico! We got her story from her foster mom who told us that her original owner moved from Puerto Rico to Georgia and wasn’t able to find a home that he could move his home to and keep Bristol, so he decided to surrender her before moving his family over. Once in her foster home she lived with a handful of dogs and a pony. We were hopeful that living with a bunch of dogs would make her great with Diesel and nervous that she would be bored living without a pony to chase around all day!
After talking to her foster mom I was still nervous to adopt another dog, especially a very high energy breed, but I closed my eyes and clicked “Donate” after telling myself to say YES to this adventure!
After quick “oh shit” moment when the transport trailer pulled into the parking lot, we got out, started shaking with nerves, and went to get our newest baby!
She was instantly sweet with us, which was so relieving! We walked her around the parking lot for a few minutes then headed to go get Diesel. It was about 11:00 at night and we were walking in circles with our two dogs, trying to introduce them on neutral ground. The first night was a little rocky, but after 10 days of having Bristol the two dogs are getting along great and playing well together.
Bristol was pretty fantastic her first few days, but has since completely flipped on her awesome crate and bedtime skills and now barks and barks and is TERRIBLE at bedtime. She has chewed through three leashes and my laptop cord (but I'm not mad about that, that was my fault!). Like most dogs, he has some awesome qualities and some not so awesome habits. Either way, I'm glad we have her! She's super sweet and Diesel enjoys playing with her when she's not laying on top of him 😂
Hi, I'm Jessie!
I live in NH with my husband and our pups. My favorite things are coaching Girls on the Run, eating good food that I didn't have to cook, helping other people work on their health, volunteering for and running races, watching tv, doing yoga, and spending too much time on social media. #Balance
