I think I have gone crazy and you should be worried about me.
I’m running a full marathon in 5 weeks! What the heck have I gotten myself into?! Yes, I have run half marathons before and that is sort of “normal” for me now, but this time I’m tackling a new challenge. I’m super excited, but also really, really nervous.
This is WAY beyond anything I have ever done before and I know it’s going to be painful the first time I conquer 26.2 miles.
But that pain is a choice versus the pain that comes with a chronic, lifelong disease, which is why I choose to continue to run for my friends and family and fellow Crohnies and IBDers who can’t run or be active or even enjoy a lot of life at the moment because they are too sick.
This race and fundraising effort is coming at a really cool time though! I’m not sure if you have seen Crohn’s disease trending online lately, but there is actually some really promising research was publicized this week about a possible cause and how this is going to produce better treatment options for patients. Super exciting! And that is really thanks to funds donated that go towards research, education and patient support! So I thank YOU if you have donated in the past because you made a real difference! BUT we aren’t there yet! There is still SO much to learn about both Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis, their causes, how to create better treatments and hopefully, eventually a CURE!
So as I keep running and enduring physical pain for fun, I ask you to open your wallet to help fund that research a little bit more. I’m asking you to help people like myself, my friends, classmates, family members and the children our team has chosen as Honorees to have more hope as we know that better treatments options and a CURE are on the way!

Hi, I'm Jessie!
