Almost caught up on my races :) This was just last weekend and was another last second sign up. My friend texted me the morning of the race asking which wave I was doing, 3:00 or 4:00. Well I had no idea there was even a race that day!
I texted my sister and we both decided to go for it and do it. It was a XC/trail race, which we don't normally do, so it would be fun to mix it up. Plus it's part of the series I am working on completing to get my jacket!
That afternoon I did my Body Beast Back & Biceps workout, then my sister came over and we headed to Derryfield Park in Manchester for the race.
We got there, parked, did our race day sign up, got our amazing race shirts! and got all ready to go.
Then I texted my friend who told me there was even a race happening to see where she was to meet up. Well....that's when she informed me that she already ran...meaning my sister and I just signed up for the COMPETITIVE WAVE. In a race that everyone was also telling me was WICKED HARD, you have to run up the huge hill in the park twice, then up a ski mountain!
Competitive wave. As in top runners, not everyday run around your neighborhood people like my sister and me.
Once the panic wore off it was pretty hilarious. We lined up with the elite runners as the announcers talked about how amazing they were and how they were record holders that were there and such. No big deal.
Once we got going it wasn't THAT bad. We walked a couple of times because the hills were pretty long, but it wasn't CRAZY. My goal was to not finish last and we accomplished that! Plus we got to run through some cool trails.
I actually enjoyed this race! I'll do it again.
There are a bunch of trails across the street from my parents' house that are wicked hilly. I used to frequent those walking Abby when I first got her a year ago and run out there occasionally too. Trails and hills don't mean torture!
